EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, invites applications for the position of Senior Director, Professional Learning to support the Communities and Research department. This is a full-time, exempt position with the option to work remotely or from the Louisville, CO office; pay rate commensurate with experience. The Senior Director will report to the Vice President, Communities, and Research.

The Senior Director of Professional Learning is responsible for strategic planning and oversight of EDUCAUSE learning and professional development programs, activities, and resources, including conferences, institutes, and new programs, to build the capacity and capability of higher education IT professionals. This position is responsible for developing and delivering a holistic, integrated array of educational opportunities for the full EDUCAUSE membership. With a thorough knowledge of both learning and social collaboration technologies, the Senior Director develops new learning strategies and relationships that deliver value across EDUCAUSE face-to-face and online programming. The Senior Director must be must be a critical, strategic, and innovative thinker, strong relationship-builder and exceptional communicator, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Portfolio Leadership and Development
Lead in a highly dynamic and competitive profession to meet current and future professional learning needs and to support the career pathways of CIOs and all higher education IT professionals across EDUCAUSE programs. Provide leadership and expertise to grow, improve, and evaluate existing professional development programs; design and direct the unit’s professional learning portfolio, including the institutes, professional learning experiences at EDUCAUSE online and face-to-face events, and future professional learning events, experiences, programs, and services. Collaborate and share leadership with other EDUCAUSE staff for audience-focused and special-topic face-to-face and online conferences and events to ensure those events provide high-quality, innovative, and energizing learning experiences. Engage with member faculty to ensure, evaluate, update, and maintain a timely, relevant, quality and cost-effectiveness series of EDUCAUSE Institute programs. Ensure that the professional learning portfolio remains highly relevant to IT professionals and connects meaningfully across the campus c-suite.
Strategy and Business Development
Establish a vision for EDUCAUSE professional learning to achieve the strategic plan goal of re-imagining professional learning to support the IT profession and IT organizations of the future. Lead business development strategy including identifying and designing the roadmap for new and existing professional learning events, experiences, programs, and services to build value and revenue and meet member needs and expectations. Identify trends, issues, and policies related to professional learning, communicating those throughout EDUCAUSE membership and to other professional organizations
Organizational and Team Development
Lead a collaborative and consultative process among the professional learning staff for strategic planning, roadmap, and goal development for professional learning and for the Communities and Research arm of EDUCAUSE. Ensure the professional learning team is comprised of high caliber individuals with the skills and backgrounds necessary to ensure ongoing excellence in EDUCAUSE professional learning.
Financial Management and Sustainability
Develop, propose, manage the Professional Learning budget, ensuring revenue, expenditures, profitability and additional financial targets contribute to the financial fitness of the unit and prioritize the allocation of resources. Create and execute strategies to maintain current revenue streams and create new ones.
Communities and Relationships
Extend EDUCAUSE’s reach and reputation by planning, coordinating, and contributing to EDUCAUSE professional learning outreach activities (lead webinars, participate in member updates, serve on boards and panels, attend and present at national conferences attended by higher education leaders, etc.) and by cultivating relationships with key leaders in the academic and IT communities. Develop and maintain collaborative and collegial working relationships with professional learning leaders of relevant associations, consortia, and organizations, as well as leaders of the IT community. Lead the association’s member volunteer service program including recruitment, fellowships, and committee service programs. Serve as a dynamic liaison between EDUCAUSE and the volunteers, constituents, and communities it serves to promote the mission, member value, and EDUCAUSE strategies.
