The University of Nevada, Reno Teaching and Learning Technologies department is seeking applications for an Instructional Designer. The Instructional Designer provides faculty support in the application of learning theory to course design, the incorporation of instructional technologies into courses, and assistance in the creation of online courses and materials. The Instructional Designer analyzes and applies trends in learning technologies and instructional design, and works collaboratively with faculty and colleagues in developing and delivering high-quality learning experiences for students. The position reports to the Director of Teaching & Learning Technologies.
The preferred candidate will have experience with a Learning Management System (LMS); be knowledgeable about current instructional technologies; understand online course development standards and procedures; and have experience using specialized instructional technologies such as Camtasia, SnagIt, etc. The department emphasizes good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate well with colleagues and faculty across the university, as well as an understanding of and sensitivity to accessibility concerns in higher education and the ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment.
Compensation and benefits: Up to low $60s, DOE. TIAA/CREF and other retirement options; 24 annual vacation days; generous sick leave policy; tuition benefits for self and family; no state income tax or FICA.
