EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, invites applications for the position of Senior Director, Analytics and Research to support the Communities and Research department. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with the option to work remotely or from the Louisville, CO office; pay rate commensurate with experience. The Senior Director will report to the Vice President, Communities and Research.

About Analytics and Research:
Analytics and Research business unit comprises EDUCAUSE’s data-driven decision-making services including:
- The EDUCAUSE Center for Analysis and Research (ECAR), which produces over 40 research publications and projects annually that are used by many thousands of higher education and IT leaders and professionals worldwide. ECAR research spans the gamut of IT domains and topics, including academic community usage and opinions, technical topics such as identity management and mobile IT, academic topics such as research computing and e-learning, and management and leadership topics such as IT governance, financial issues, and workforce issues and attitudes.
- The EDUCAUSE Core Data Service (CDS), higher education’s comprehensive information technology (IT) benchmarking data service. It is one of EDUCAUSE’s flagship services and is used by IT leaders in over 800 colleges and universities since 2002 to inform their IT strategic planning and management.
- EDUCAUSE Benchmarking Service (EBS) is a decision-support tool that enables institutions to assess their digital capability maturity in 8 areas and identify best practices for improving maturity.
The Senior Director of Analytics and Research provides leadership and support for a diverse research and analytics services portfolio designed to enhance decision making within the higher education IT community. The core components of this portfolio are the EDUCAUSE Center for Analysis and Research (ECAR), the Core Data Service (CDS), and the EDUCAUSE Benchmarking Service (EBS).
The Senior Director is responsible for identifying, creating, executing, and disseminating EDUCAUSE research projects, developing and delivering data-based products and services that meet members’ evolving needs to make decisions about, manage, and advocate for IT investments and services, and coordinating or advising on research efforts to support EDUCAUSE programs and services. The Senior Director directs a team of talented and experienced analytics and research professionals. The Senior Director develops and manages the operational aspects of the EDUCAUSE research portfolio and the associated data and analytics infrastructure, including but not limited to personnel, budget, annual planning, and key performance indicators (KPIs). The association places a high priority on the development of business in areas that leverage these capabilities and promote thoughtful, data-informed, decision-making and forecasting by members.

Strategy and Business Development
Inspire and lead business development strategy including identifying and designing the roadmap for new and existing analytics and research initiatives; meet current and future needs for higher education’s technology research and data infrastructure; coordinate research and analytics activities with overall association strategic plan.
Portfolio Excellence and Leadership
Explore, identify, and develop opportunities for collaborative research, data, and analytics partnerships across EDUCAUSE and with other organizations with the goal of examining cross-functional (IT and other areas such as HR or student success) issues to address the most strategic issues facing higher education. Ensure the relevance of the portfolio to the strategic issues facing higher education and is responsive to emergent member needs; ensure continuous improvement and with a focus on high quality work, enhancing efficiency, technical innovations and member/stakeholder relations.
Organizational and Team Development
Lead a collaborative and consultative process among the analytics and research staff for strategic planning and roadmap development of major EDUCAUSE analytics and research initiatives and underlying analytics infrastructure projects.
Develop, propose, manage the A/R budget, ensuring revenue, expenditures, profitability and additional financial targets contribute to the financial fitness of the unit, and prioritize the allocation of resources. Ensure that projects are within budget and profit targets are continuously monitored and achieved. Encourage continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets
Communities and Relationships
Provide EDUCAUSE with visibility in and connections to the membership and greater association community. Develop and sustain collaborative working relationships with IT and higher education leaders and technologists.
