The Senior Windows System Administrator is an integral member of the Technical Services (TS) group in Information Technology Services (ITS), supporting a number of University servers and applications. In collaboration with the TS team members, this individual helps to research, design and implement all major TS initiatives which involve backend systems infrastructure. He/She will be primarily responsible for the administration of an established Windows environment including installation and configuration, security, hardware and network diagnostics, performance analysis and tuning, backups and restore, and routine maintenance. Administration, maintenance and tuning/analysis of SAN disk systems and load balancers are also expected. The 24x 7x365 availability of critical systems requires system administrators to take part in on-call rotations or off-hours system maintenance which can result in work outside regular work hours.
B.S. degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; Master's degree in IT discipline preferred
5+ years of recent Enterprise level experience in Windows Server administration
An understanding of and practical experience with backup, recovery and data replication methodologies for business continuity, as they relate to Open Systems architecture
Understanding and practical experience with server virtualization, both Hyper V and VMWare
Blackboard Administration a plus
Experience with SAN fiber channel infrastructure and disk management
Experience supporting Active Directory infrastructure
Experience in server management and computer hardware architecture, with an emphasis on Dell servers
Demonstrated experience in working effectively both independently and in a team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred knowledge of load balancing appliances, Microsoft Exchange
