The Director of Telecommunications is a member of the OSU Information Technology Department. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer. The Director is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, security and daily operations of the telecommunications infrastructure used for administrative, academic, and research activities. The telecommunications infrastructure includes, but is not limited to, the fiber optics plant, data networks (wired and wireless), Internet connectivity and bandwidth management, and voice communications and services. This position also serves as the IT liaison for emergency communications. Effective communications and collaboration with the OSU/A&M community and external constituents is essential.
This position requires work after normal working hours and requires continual availability via voice and email. Additional income is provided in the base salary for procuring and maintaining a cellular device. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Minimum requirements are a Bachelor's degree and combined five years of supervisory and comparable enterprise telecommunications environment experience.
Preferred requirements are a Master's degree in the field of Telecommunications, Business, IT Security, or other computer-related field. Experience in higher education, and a managerial level of expertise in: DNS, DHCP, routers/switches (preferable Cisco), VoIP, Ericcson PBX, firewall, fiber installation, traffic logging/analysis, and emerging technologies.
