Reporting to the Manager, Application Development, the programmer will be responsible for the maintenance and quality control of the data interfaces between DRI applications and other NSHE systems (HR, Workday, Payroll, Advantage, etc.). In addition, this individual will work directly with end users to ensure requirements are properly defined and finished products are satisfactory. He or she will directly interact with third party vendors who provide applications used by DRI. The position will also develop, modify, test, implement, document, and support computer applications and programs that are the responsibility of the Desert Research Institute’s (DRI) central Information Technology (IT) department. This position is located in Reno, Nevada.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (information systems preferred).
At least 4 years of relevant experience in programming, implementing and supporting computer applications
At least 2 years of experience working with relational databases and SQL based reporting and query development
Experience developing web based or web enabled applications
Experience programming in UNIX or Linux environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, tact and interpersonal skills
interface effectively with end-users and translate their requests into well-defined programming projects
maintain confidentiality of sensitive information/data
take initiative and work independently as wells as part of a group
manage, prioritize, and complete multiple projects/tasks in an efficient and timely manner meeting strict timelines and project deadlines and objectives
