The Director is responsible for overseeing the strategic vision and organization for information technology in these specific areas on the Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) campus: Centralized Desktop Support for the entire campus; SalukiTech Computer Call Center; SalukiTech Walk-in Center, which handles computer support for personal devices for the SIUC Community; SalukiTech Computer Store; Centralized Computer Lab Centers; Campus-Wide Printing Services; IT Service Management best practices.
Specific Duties Include: Develop strategic and operational plans to achieve business goals; foster collaboration among employees and business units; prioritize technology initiatives; coordinate the evaluation, deployment, and management of technology systems; assess new computing technologies and the feasibility of system enhancements; identify emerging technology trends in the industry; assessing opportunities for cost-effective investment in technology systems, staff, and resources; develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending and initiatives; maintain security and privacy of information systems, communication lines, and equipment.
Bachelor’s degree with 10 years’ experience in Information Technology or a related field with progressively more experience in IT leadership and customer service. Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) concepts and best practices is required. Master’s degree, and/or higher education experience is preferred.
