The Academic Technology Specialist is responsible for the local administration and support of academic technologies such as the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), Qualtrics survey platform, ePortfolio system, academic file storage system, etc. This work includes overseeing the installation of additional functional modules (e.g. LTIs) into the LMS, researching and communicating upgrades and new features to the community, troubleshooting problems (e.g., data feeds), and resolving tier 3 support issues working in close collaboration with other CIS staff. Duties will require close collaboration with faculty and students in order to assess needs and to educate through one-on-one meetings, offering workshops, providing documentation, creation of educational media, and developing data visualizations. The specialist will work with other academic tech and Office of Digital Learning staff to aid in the development of content and will recommend various technologies to add to the repository of academic technologies.
Education: Advanced Degree
Experience: 3 years experience working with academic technologies in a support or development capacity
Specific Skills: Proven technology troubleshooting, an affinity for learning new technology quickly, and excellent communication skills
Specialized Knowledge/Experience: Expert with academic technology platforms (Canvas is preferred) with experience either as an administrator or developer
At least one year of experience working with Qualtrics and or RedCap
