The Windows Systems Engineer leads the development and implementation of Windows servers and associated systems including identifying gaps, impacts and risk associated with current and proposed solutions. This position provides the skills and experience required for the successful planning and implementation for system security, business continuity, and industry best practices. As a member of the SysNet team, this position participates in a wide range of projects, and delivered services.
Leads the development and implementation of Windows servers and associated systems such as NetApp in support of the College’s needs in Windows based applications and services. Identifies gaps, strategic impacts, and risk profile of proposed solutions.
In collaboration with the systems and networking team, helps develop and implement a comprehensive systems and security architecture that recognizes the interconnectivity between Windows, Linux, NetApp, Network and cloud infrastructures.
Documents systems and services, tunes and configures applications, and ensures system performance with system monitoring and analysis tools.
In collaboration with the systems and networking group, develops, manages and tests business continuity plans, and security solutions.
Builds and sustains relationships with members of LTS and systems administrators in the Wellesley user community. Provides guidance on best practices for faculty and departmental servers.
Participates in the work of the group including, managing projects that improve the delivery of service to all constituents of the user community, administering enterprise SaaS applications such as Google Apps, administering departmental servers that contain institutional data, and providing redundancy other Systems and Networks services.
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience, preferably in an information technology related field.
3 years experience in information technology service delivery
2 years supporting Windows servers and underlying technologies, including installing and configuring Microsoft SQL Server
Strong Active Directory administration experience
3 years managing technical projects, including large-scale implementations and/or upgrades, and the management of parallel projects
Experience in virtual computing management experience such as VMWare. Experience in provisioning and troubleshooting virtual servers.
Experience supporting technologies in a team environment
Knowledge in provisioning and managing Windows servers in AWS and other cloud services.
Knowledge in networking protocols, including mounting disk systems using Samba and NFS.
Knowledge in basic Linux system use is desirable.
Solid knowledge of and experience with Windows server, Active Directory, MySQL server, and hardware configuration management.
Solid knowledge of and experience with network concepts and protocols.
Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively with a team in a multitasking, interrupt-driven environment.

Due to the nature of supporting systems and network services, work hours outside of the normal College workday will be required. Regular on-call and remote support are expectations of all members of the Systems and Networks team.
