We are currently seeking a Database Administrator with an anticipated start date January 2018.
The Database Administrator is responsible for all aspects of database administration including planning, implementation, configuration, support, usage monitoring and tuning. She/he is responsible for internal support of data integrity, security and reliability issues within the Oracle administrative system database. She/he is responsible for implementing backup and recovery procedures, maintaining system documentation and logs and assisting in troubleshooting and diagnosing production problems.
This position performs database performance analysis, and helps to build interfaces between production database and ancillary systems. This person will work with the Technology Services team to ensure that proper security and networking requirements are met to support the college's ERP (BANNER) and all other administrative systems. This position will also be responsible for managing data access permissions to insure security of the college's data.
This is not a supervisory position, but will work as part of a team with other Technology Services Professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Install and test upgrades and patches and determine dependencies.
Create shell scripts for task automation.
Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements.
Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency.
Oversee backup, mirroring, and replication of database. Restore and recover corrupted databases.
Creates production, test, and development database environments as needed.
Implement database security. Provide 24/7 support for critical situations.
External Liaisons, Teams, and Committees:
Serves on Banner User Group Team and other ad hoc committees and teams.
Participates regularly in college-wide activities.
Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with an integrated higher education enterprise database required; experience with Ellucian Banner strongly preferred.
Proficiency in most current version of the Oracle database, and at least one other of the following databases/operating systems: Microsoft SQL Server, Red Hat Linux.
Experience working in an Oracle environment supporting and resolving issues related to the deployment of administrative or academic services support applications. Familiarity with using enterprise middleware such as Oracle Weblogic and related Oracle tool sets such as Goldengate, Real Application Clusters, Advanced Security.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience with Oracle Exadata system highly desirable.
