PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Implement, support, and develop faculty development efforts focused on blended and online instruction at CSU Channel Islands. Works with the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Innovation to cultivate a vision of innovation for online and blended learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Design and facilitate online faculty learning experiences for faculty in consultation with Teaching & Learning Innovations team. Consult with academic programs interested in blended and online learning programs. Expand and maintain an online community for faculty on our campus who are focused on innovation in teaching and learning. Will collaborate with faculty via social media, email, blogs, and video conferencing to develop ideas for blended and online instruction. Will research emerging technologies and effective practices for online and blended instruction. Along with Teaching & Learning Innovations team pilot emerging technologies focused on humanizing the online learning experience.
SUPERVISOR/OTHER WORK RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Executive Director of Teaching & Learning Innovation. This position may be up to 80% remote, 20% on-campus. Exact schedule to be agreed upon with the Executive Director of Teaching & Learning Innovations. Will attend meetings, conduct workshops, and facilitate learning communities remotely. Must by on campus for the faculty orientation at the beginning of each academic year.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Bachelor's degree in any academic discipline required. Advanced degree in Education or related field highly desirable. Must have a growing vision of the role of information technology services in higher education. Evidence of the ability to envision innovative programs and products, and to implement these programs and products on a university campus is highly desirable. Expertise in online and blended learning required. Knowledge about humanizing online learning desirable. Knowledge of a wide range of educational technologies is required. Must possess an understanding of Learning Management Systems. Recent experience in educational technology and blending or online teaching experience is also required. Knowledge of WordPress, VoiceThread, and Canvas a plus.
