The Oracle database administrator will be responsible for all aspects of database administration services in support of the University’s, Business Systems Group. This includes database installation, backup, tuning, maintenance and change management.
A successful candidate will help to support the university database environments, with an emphasis on Ellucian Banner and the Operational Data Store (ODS). Familiarity with Banner 9, Degreeworks, Ellucian Solution Manager (ESM), Ellucian Workflow, XtenderSolutions, and the Automic Applications Manager is a plus.
The database administrator reports to the Assistant Director of Enterprise Systems and will work closely with other key groups and staff within Information Technology Services (ITS).
In addition, the database administrator should possess skills in:
Oracle Relational Database 11g and 12c Administration experience
Oracle 11g & 12c Fusion Middleware experience
Oracle Forms & Reports experience
Oracle SQL & PL/SQL
Oracle Weblogic & Apache Tomcat experience
Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) experience
Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) experience
The ability to work effectively with end-users and teammates
Assist project or technical lead in new database design, code review and other support activities
Database and server capacity planning, upgrades and performance tuning
Participate in security audits, and implement changes to resolve concerns
Responsible for reviewing and publishing changes to the production environment and all changes created by the development team using provided scripts and packages
Develop and maintain documentation as required
Must be able to maintain data confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, etc.)
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a related field
Minimum of four years of relevant experience in Information Technology; previous database administration (DBA) experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with Oracle database and application administration and one or more of the following database systems required: MSSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL
Experience in programming with SQL, PL/SQL, Shell programming, and one or more of the following languages preferred: C#, C++, Microsoft .NET, Java, PHP
Experience documenting new and existing processes as well as updating existing documentation when changes are necessary
Must be detail oriented, organized, have the ability to multi-task with excellent problem solving skills, willing attitude and persistent follow-through
Familiarity with multiple Operating Systems (UNIX, Linux, Windows)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with team and community
Experience in working in a large complex organization
Experience working in higher education or a research environment
