The Information Systems Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of the College’s software applications and their integration with the Administrative Information System. This position collaborates with College faculty and staff to facilitate the use of technology to support instruction, promote the College, and maintain consistent and accurate data. This position is under the general supervision of the Director of Administrative Information Systems.
Assist with the development, customization, and maintenance of third-party software packages that connect to the Colleges’ administrative information system. Administer technology solutions including servers, software, help systems, and interfaces with existing information systems. Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for: data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs. Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries from faculty, staff and students regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs. Assist with the application of software patches and version upgrades. Assist with the creation of reports for functional users. Position requires frequent standing and sitting and key entry. May be required to push, pull, lift or carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs. Must be available to work 40 hrs. per week with normal work hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening hours may be required.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science is preferred. Familiarity with Ellucian Banner, the College’s administrative information system is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of Java, Perl, HTML, PL/SQL, SQL, and general relational database is preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly. Demonstrated programming skills. Strong technical support skills. Strong problem solving skills.
