St. Charles Community College welcomes qualified applicants to apply for the full-time position of Director of Online Learning. The primary purpose of the Director of Online Learning is to: advance the goals and objectives of online learning, provide leadership in developing and implementing the online learning strategy for the college, to include strengthening of existing programs and development of leading-edge programs that enhance student success, provide data analytics, grow tuition revenue, increase enrollment, recruitment, retention and graduation rates.
Enhances online student services.
Ensures the smooth operation of services for online students.
Utilizes data analytics to inform online services for students.
Assists faculty and related administrators to implement effective pedagogies, technologies and methodologies in respective programs to promote student engagement and success.
Provides strategic direction for online learning. Aligns the direction and vision of online learning with goals of purposeful and sustainable growth, access and opportunity, and excellence in learning for the entire SCC community.
Recommends and creates appropriate operational structure for online delivery.
Implements new policies and procedures in support of online learning.
Keeps abreast of national trends in online learning.
Sets and implements goals and metrics for online learning.
Builds and strengthens relationships with constituents across the campus and community.
Works with the marketing and enrollment management teams to develop and implement internal and external marketing and strategic recruitment plans for online offerings.
Ensures compliance with the Higher Learning Commission accreditation requirements, for Online and Distance Learning programs.
Analyzes student profile, community and industry needs/trends, and identify needs for improvements to online education.
Serves as a resource for the department chairs, and Deans to improve the quality of current online offerings according to established best- practices
Works with faculty and administrators on assessment to ensure the quality of online learning
Oversees instructional design activities and quality improvement of related processes.
Collaborates with Professional Development to ensure a full program of faculty development opportunities for online learning.
Facilitates academic partnerships between division faculty, faculty in feeder high schools, and four-year transfer institutions; assure maximum course articulations for students.
Ensures college wide awareness of, and compliance with, federal and state distance-learning regulations, as well as licensing and copyright laws.
Operations and Finances
Supervises, assists, and supports the distance learning staff.
Performs yearly program assessments and provide ongoing budgetary analysis.
Serves on committees, taskforces and other groups as an advisor and advocate for high-quality online teaching and courses.
Works with Academic Deans to hire online faculty, manages online teaching assignments and schedules online courses.

Master’s degree from a nationally or regionally accredited University in Educational Technology, Higher Education Administration, Instructional Design or related area. Experience in online learning program development required. Demonstrated quality online teaching experience is required. Demonstrated leadership abilities and ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with diverse constituencies. Demonstrated commitment to student success. Demonstrated ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in problem solving. Demonstrated interest, experience and/or ability to promote cultural competency and/or diversity.
Experience in student recruitment for online programs preferred. Demonstrated experience with Quality Matters Rubric or similar course assessment tool preferred.
