Our Faculty Programs team is focused on expanding its portfolio of faculty-focused collaborations, including collaborative research projects, faculty engagement programs, and faculty development initiatives that align with the University's strategic goal of transforming education. The successful candidate will help to foster and support Penn State's community of educators who conduct scholarship in pursuit of their own teaching excellence, as well as contribute to the broader discourse on teaching and learning in higher education. Joining our dynamic team, the ideal candidate will leverage traditional and creative research approaches, novel problem-solving strategies, and relationship-building skills to support faculty efforts to effectively incorporate technology into teaching and learning environments.
The ideal candidate should have experience conducting research and publishing subsequent findings, teaching in higher education or have knowledge of and experience with evidence-based teaching and learning innovations, and have a passion for working to improve the teaching and learning experience in higher education. Education Technology Services (ETS), a unit within Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT), is a very collaborative environment, making good communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills critical to the success for someone in this position.
Responsibilities for this position include: (1) identifying and executing research projects, in collaboration with faculty as well as independently; (2) collaborating with faculty on sponsored projects, such as proposal writing, research design, and evaluation; (3) working collaboratively on diverse teams that may include other researchers, faculty members, data scientists and analysts, instructional designers, media developers, and graduate students; (4) supporting faculty development initiatives, including both design and facilitation roles; (5) actively seeking out new opportunities for faculty engagement, designing new programs and leading new projects; (6) building and maintaining relationships with faculty and other stakeholders across the university, both at University Park and other campus locations; and (7) ensuring that our collaborators have enriching and engaging experiences through their work with our team.
Qualifications: The desired candidate will have a strong academic background (master's or Ph.D.) in Education (e.g., higher education, higher education policy and strategy, learning design, learning sciences, digital learning) or other discipline where the training and experiences are relevant. Required qualifications include: (1) documented background in research, having published scientific, peer-reviewed manuscripts and/or participated in funded grant work; (2) excellent oral and written communication skills; (3) an ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently; and (4) a passion for bringing creativity and hard work to the task of solving interesting problems. Preferred qualifications include: (5) teaching experience in higher education and (6) grant writing and support. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
