EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, invites applications for the position of Program Manager to support Next Generation Learning Challenges and its impact. This is a full-time, exempt position with the option to work remotely. Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience. This position is currently grant funded through December 2017; we anticipate receiving additional grant funds that will extend the position at least through the life of the initiative it supports (projected to be three years).
The K-12 Program Manager is responsible for providing logistical and program support for the Next Generation Learning Challenges “NGLX” (working title) Incubator and the Mass Learning Excursion Initiative, both based in Massachusetts. NGLX is designed to be a three- to four-year $8-10M initiative that will catalyze the development of new schools in Massachusetts that reflect principles of next gen learning and expand the Commonwealth’s understanding of what’s possible in public school design. The Mass Learning Excursion program is designed to enable MA-based educators and leaders to visit such schools across the country.
This position leads all logistical planning for the launch of the Incubator and planning and implementation of the Mass Learning Excursions (school site visits to national NGLC grantees and other exemplary schools). The K-12 Program Manager also works with the Program Officer, NGLX on recruiting potential school teams and assists in tracking the review process. The K-12 Program Manager, NGLX will work with the Program Officer, NGLX to provide operational/technical support, staff support, program development and administrative support and work with the Director of K-12 Operations to provide logistics support related to the Mass Learning Excursions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Manager provides a range of support services for the NGLX Incubator and Mass Learning Excursion initiative that include:
Assisting the Program Officer with coaching grantees in areas including understanding and meeting requirements for planning; financial; and/or programmatic documentation; and monitoring grantee performance, including careful review of all reports and communication with principal investigators and financial administrators.
Leading logistical planning and implementation of Mass Learning Excursions.
Leading program implementation of Mass Learning Excursions by attending and facilitating the visits in person.
Leading logistical planning and implementation of NGLX Incubator meet ups, convenings, and sessions. Both of these responsibilities will involve managing subcontractors, creating work plans, and supervising workflow on the implementation of these NGLC initiatives.
Coordinating grantee awards administration, including payments, travel reimbursements, stipends, and processing vendor invoices for payment, as well as organizing and tracking grantee reports.
Participating in the development and refinement of program strategy, knowledge management, community building and content development.
Designing, developing and maintaining online tools, systems, processes to enable NGLC grant making and to ensure other programs run efficiently and effectively (i.e. sign ups for learning excursions).
Tracking and managing invoices and budget related to NGLX and Mass Learning initiatives.
Scheduling external meetings (in person and virtual) involving multiple participants, including handling some travel and hotel bookings.
Providing a range of services (editing, reviewing, organizing, analysis) to Program Officer, NGLX and Director of K-12 Operations, as needed.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Requires a Bachelors Degree in a related field
Requires knowledge of the education system and the education reform/policy environment in Massachusetts
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Understanding of the components of next gen learning (student-centered, competency-based, driving toward richer, deeper definitions of student success, enabling student agency, technology as an enabler, etc.)
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and project management.
Exceptional written and spoken communication.
Solid familiarity with core office productivity software tools. (Google docs, Excel, PowerPoint, social platforms, etc.).
Ability to work collaboratively.
A background in managing online community mechanisms, such as wikis, blogs, social networking applications, discussion lists, and online resource collections is a plus
Ability to travel around the state.
