SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for supporting Cumberland County College's mission statement and strategic objectives and is accountable and responsible for fulfilling faculty duties and responsibilities as required by Cumberland County College.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
The successful candidate will have object oriented programming skills in Java and C++. Web development and design using HTML. Introduction to database design using normalization and relational algebra and programming in SQL. Teach fifteen (15) classroom hours.
Be available to teach evening, weekend and off-campus classes, and assist with the coordination of activities related to the program.
Post and hold daily office hours for student consultation at times convenient to students.
Advise and register students and stay current with college advisement software.
Work together with the Planning, Research and Institutional Effectiveness department to provide accurate assessment data regarding student learning and outcomes.
Attend college, division and faculty meetings.
Attend program Advisory Board meetings.
Cooperate with full time and part time faculty, division chair and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Enrollment Services in carrying out the instructional program.
Schedule meetings and provide professional assistance to all assigned advisees and other advisees as appropriate.
Complete all requested division paperwork such as syllabi, outlines, book orders, time sheets, etc.
Accept routine contributory and leadership roles in committee service.
Review new textbooks, techniques and teaching aides relevant to courses.
Assist the division chair by providing advice and/or assistance to part time faculty in regard to course content and instructional materials.
Fulfill faculty duties and responsibilities as required by Cumberland County College.
Performs other related duties as assigned by division chair or vice president.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field required. Community college teaching experience and practical experience in computer science field preferred. Must be computer literate with an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, electronic research including databases, Internet, and e-mail, as well as an ability to learn on-line functions.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents and contracts. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write proposals, contracts and budgets. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to administration, community groups, students, and/or board of trustees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
