This management position in the Technology Services Department has responsibility for architecture, design, and operation of the information security architectures (Management/Governance/Policy, Data, Application, Identity/Access Management and Server/Network/Infrastructure) for the District.
The CISO is responsible for establishing district wide strategic direction, as well as administrative and technical controls to protect the information of Madison College. This position has cross-organization scope both within the College and in Technology Services. Working with other leaders, this position will establish high-level policies, directions and technical implementation strategies to protect the privacy of institutional data and reduce the institutional liability.
This position has leadership responsibilities for designing, developing and maintaining the College’s Information Security environments. This position leads cross-functional teams of staff in the development and implementation of security standards and protocols, providing guidance, ensuring consistency to design standards and assisting/mentoring with project efforts that team members struggle to complete. This position will work collaboratively on projects with other key senior technical positions, such as, the Data Architect, the Applications and Integrations Architect, the Technology and Identity Access Management Architect and all the Directors of Technology Services.
Work assignments include maintaining the Madison College security structure/model; identifying and operationalizing key tools to support security monitoring and management work; gathering requirements and developing technical documentation for customer needs; developing solution design options for review, consideration and selection; making recommendations to management and identifying and deploying security standards across various mission-critical applications, such as, the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) (e.g., Blackboard) and other enterprise applications or services to improve and safeguard operational effectiveness.
At an operational level, this position will need to be proactive in assessing risk and preventing security incidents by establishing and improving an effective incident management program and responding to issues that emerge in a timely manner.
This position works with all functional areas of IT, including all IT Directors, and reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
